POTSDAM ENTRANCE
In spring 2022, TDBS was commissioned by PAT Art Lab to create a mural for the entrance area of a residential building in the Brandenburg city of Potsdam. The building is a residential complex, managed by PATRIZIA SE, and offers furnished living mainly to young people and young professionals of international origin.
In a deep engagement with the region, the city and through the client's desire to collaborate with a local artist, the choice fell on Innerfields from Berlin. In their murals, they reflect their surroundings and create figurative motifs with a realistic touch, which are enhanced with graphic elements and symbols.
In terms of the assignment, a storytelling was chosen that represents the city of Potsdam historically, making it easier for new residents to get started, but also conveying the creative energy of the city. (Potsdam joined the Creative Cities Network (UCCN) in 2019, a UNESCO project that aims to celebrate and sustain cultural diversity).
Due to the architecture of the space, which was very long and slender, the idea of a 3D mural came up, which the artists embedded perfectly into the space in terms of perspective, creating a new sense of space and giving residents a uniqueness of living space.
The mural creates a brilliant "Welcoming to Potsdam", a highlight for the community living there. In keeping with the spirit of "tradition meets modernity" and Potsdam's medieval garden tradition. A balance between nature and architecture was to be found.
TDBS supervised the project from the first step, made the artist selection and led the entire art management.
